Kalista's 1st Birthday - Take One

We celebrated Kalista's 1st birthday, with David's side of the family, while in Bakersfield for Thanksgiving. I am thinking a lot of her birthdays will be celebrated in this fashion since it falls around Turkey Day (November 30th, to be exact).
I ordered the most scrumptious cake from a bakery called Sweet Surrender. And I am not the only one who thinks this cake is divine...Giada even thinks so! I was watching The Best Thing I Ever Ate (episode 'Crazy Good') on Food Network and Giada was raving about The Matterhorn cake. Lucky for me this bakery was in Bakersfield and a favorite of all the Halls.

Our happy little girl!
Happy Birthday to me!
Frosting is the best!
Didn't quite know what to do with this sweet, decadent pleasure.
Such a Princess...Kalista preferred her cake fed
by hand rather than getting messy.
Yummy!
We love you, Kalista!
(No matter what the gift...my kids love the ribbon!)

Young Love

 Sophia & her crush...Luke
 Off they go!
Sophia is fond of Jack too!
Lucky girl to have twin brothers for her friends.

Gobble Gobble Art

 So cute and clever!
My favorite...a turkey placemat. It's even laminated for
easy clean-up and to re-use.
(It reads, "I am thankful for Kalista because
we play dress up in Mommy's room.")

A Girly Christmas Tree

Yes, I realize Thanksgiving has not happened yet but can I just say, "I couldn't help myself! I love Christmas!" And since it is way too early to get our Christmas tree I decided to do a little artificial tree for the girls. Not sure if I'm going to move the tree into their room though...fear of Kalista dismantling it. : )
I fell in love with these bird ornaments
I think this one says it all!
What's a girly tree without a cupcake ornament?
I'm sure Sophia will adore this lollipop!
 Aren't these precious?
 Looking forward to adding more
ornaments as the years go by.
(Okay, maybe even as the next few weeks go by) ; )

Buying Time

This is the best way to go grocery shopping! I can buy myself about 30-45 minutes, easily!

*Disclosure: Not the cleanest form of entertainment. I think I used about 5 of those disinfecting wipes. : ) I think I concentrated too much on cleaning the steering wheel and sides...note the nasty front of the car.

Trick or Treat

Halloween was so much fun! We spent the evening with our good friends, The Eliassens, who have one of the best trick or treating neighborhoods in Santa Barbara. They get well over 1,000 trick or treaters!
